1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how TeXise collects, uses, stores, discloses, and protects personal information when you use TeXise. “Personal information” means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use TeXise, we may collect account information, contact information, workspace information, project files, file names, LaTeX source, bibliography files, figures, PDFs, scripts, logs, CLI session information, compilation information, usage information, device details, IP address, approximate location, cookies, and billing information if paid plans are introduced.
3. How we collect information
We collect information when you visit texise.com or app.texise.com, create or use a TeXise account, upload or compile files, use TeXiser, use CLI access, contact us, or interact with analytics, security, or logging systems.
4. How we use information
We use information to provide, operate, secure, and maintain TeXise; manage accounts and workspaces; store, edit, compile, preview, and export LaTeX projects and PDFs; provide CLI access and diagnostics; respond to support requests; improve the service; detect abuse; and comply with legal obligations.
5. User content and research files
Your project files may contain personal information, confidential research, unpublished work, source code, data, or third-party material. We process those files only as needed to provide TeXise features such as storage, editing, preview, compilation, PDF generation, CLI access, search, sync, backup, support, security, and abuse prevention.
6. AI-assisted features
If TeXise provides AI-assisted research, drafting, editing, citation, structure, or error-help features, the information you provide to those features may be processed to generate responses or suggestions. Avoid submitting sensitive, confidential, or regulated information unless you are comfortable with that processing and have authority to do so.
7. Cookies and analytics
TeXise may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect accounts, understand usage, detect abuse, and improve the service. You can usually control cookies through your browser settings.
8. Disclosure of information
We may disclose personal information to service providers, hosting providers, security providers, analytics providers, payment processors if paid plans are introduced, professional advisers, regulators, courts, government authorities, or another organisation if TeXise is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructure, or sale of assets. We do not sell your project files or research documents.
9. Overseas disclosure
TeXise may use cloud hosting, analytics, email, security, payment, AI, or support providers located in Australia or overseas. Where practical, we take reasonable steps to use providers with appropriate security and privacy safeguards.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical, organisational, and administrative measures designed to protect personal information and project files, including access controls, authentication, logging, encryption in transit, container isolation, monitoring, and backups. No online service is completely secure.
11. Data retention
We retain personal information and project files for as long as reasonably needed to provide TeXise, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms, maintain security, and support legitimate business purposes.
12. Access, correction, and deletion
You may request access to personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or request deletion of your account or certain project files, subject to legal, security, backup, and operational limitations. Contact hello@texise.com.
13. Children
TeXise is intended for students, researchers, professionals, and technical authors. It is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us.
14. Marketing communications
We may send product updates, launch news, or service announcements where permitted. You can opt out of marketing emails where an unsubscribe method is provided. We may still send important service, account, legal, or security notices.
15. Complaints, changes, and contact
If you have a privacy question or complaint, contact us at hello@texise.com. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, and the updated version will be posted on this page.
